Lasercut Arcade Cabinet Print E-mail
Sunday, 20 March 2011
Being a child of the 70's, arcade games hold more for me than these xbox things... I've often thought about buying one - a real one - for home. I've looked at MAME cabinets and all sorts of options, but at the moment I've only got a little place with little space, so what I needed was a little arcade machine.

I drew this up over the last couple of evenings in CorelDRAW. It stands about 130cm / 5" tall and laser cut from 3mm Acrylic.

I have uploaded the CorelDRAW files to Thingiverse, you can download the files and cut your own :)

I've been a Ren & Stimpy fan for ages. One of the funniest characters was Mr Horse. So I had a crack at making a Mr Horse rubber stamp :)

60w Laser Engraver / Cutter Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 September 2010
After a year of work saving and planning, on Friday my 'secret project' arrived - imported directly from the manufacturer in China. A 60w Laser Engraver/Cutter. The delivery driver placed it at the end of my driveway and departed.

The first thing was - OMG! It's huge! The pictures on the Internet really don't convey how big this thing is!

Thursday, 02 September 2010
Since the start of the year, I've been working on several projects. One of those projects is currently sitting on the back of a boat, due to dock in Melbourne on Friday! In fact, it's on this boat, the Safmarine Meru:

According to the Customs agent, I should take delivery in about a week's time. So, what's in the box?

Monday, 17 May 2010
Chartbusting 80s - 7th Aug. 2003For about 12 years, up until a few years ago I was working as a volunteer in the RMIT TV Studio. Working as a member of RMITV with programs going to air on Melbourne's Channel 31.

During my time there I took a few photos and have just started uploading them to my Flickr page. I've uploaded a little more than 700 photos so far and can be viewed HERE

I have quite a few more to upload and will do that over time - I think in total there's about 4,000 photos!

MYKI Mayhem Print E-mail
Wednesday, 27 January 2010
Towards the end of 2002, the Victorian State Government began work to replace the current public transport ticket with a new "Smart" ticket... 8 years later and at a cost of $1.4bn, we get MYKI.

This wonderful new ticketing system will allow seamless ticketing between trains, busses and trams... Or, that's what it's supposed to do. Right now, after all the fanfare of the launch, it only works on trains - so if you catch a bus or a tram, you're out of luck and must continue to use the existing tickets.

However, that's not such a bad thing! Reports are coming in of commuters being over-charged, cards not working at barriers and machines that are simply out-of-order - why does this not surprise me?!

During January, the Transport Ticketing Authority, the department responsible for running this wonderful system, is offering free MYKI passes to anyone who registers online.

So I took up that offer...

Melbourne Open House 2009 Print E-mail
Monday, 20 July 2009
Just by chance, I discovered that the Melbourne Open House 2009 was being held on July 19th. 32 buildings in and around the Melbourne CBD were being opened up for the public to view. I was lucky enough to be able to visit and photograph two great buildings - the Melbourne Town Hall and the Capitol Theatre.

I would have loved to visit some of the other buildings - Especially the Russell Place Substation, however the wait in queue to see it was over 4 hours and I didn't want to wait that long. I'll try to get there early next year :) More photos can be found on Flickr.
